"Damn, I forgot my Keiko plushie."
I envisioned a silly joke where I plopped the plushie on the table as I install a Keiko. But, oh well, I wasn't even sure if I would play Hoshiko anyway. I was heading out towards the Torino District championship, a tournament which I knew would be stacked with good players as The King had invited me along with a bunch of others to come join along his EU trip.
The energy on this trip was quite different to most of my other Netrunner journeys. When traveling for a tournament I will typically spend some time preparing competitively. Due to there still being a lot of pending work on Elevation rules to do and IRL being generally busy leading up to this, I hadn't really been able to play much or prepare at all.
I figured I might as well play the decks that I think would result in enjoyable games for the tournament. I had brought this Arissana deck, which is J0N4LD's CBI deck with -1 Spec Work. While me and aksu deck checked each other, I found 1 rat instead of Miss Bones in his Hoshiko, and he found a sleeve with a noticeable crease in mine. I decided to cut a Spec Work since that was one of the main candidates I was thinking about cutting while wondering how I would bring it to 45 cards.
All the games I had were quite close and enjoyable, even though I lost most of them. I would definitely had benefited from some practicing with this deck beforehand, as it was built rather different than how I usually play Arissana and found it difficult to put the right pressure on the Corp. No Kyuban and it being install-heavy due to Aesops felt like I was constantly a bit too slow. A dynamic that probably improves as you get familiar with how to play the deck. Nevertheless, the goal of having some fun games at an awesome tournament was definitely achieved.
As always, I would like to thank everyone I met along the journey and in the tournament. There were a lot of moments that I will remember fondly. The museum trip was enriching, the Netrunner we played in the cube and the tournament was awesome, the burgers were mouth-watering, the sunday night gelateria was refreshing, and the karaoke was an amazing experience! Cheers to everyone, and I hope I'll see you soon in another Netrunner tournament!
"Lose 1 click... untill you have no remaining clicks"
As we descended down the long stairs of the AirBnB for the first time, I was wondering how the dynamic of the group would be. Bridgeman soon broke that doubt when he started the discussion of designing a piece of ice inspired by the long stairs. The ice would be called Trappa, the swedish word for stairs. The final design ended up somewhere along the lines of: 'When the Runner encounters this ice, they lose all remaining clicks. This ice gains a "-> Do 1 net damage." subroutine for each click lost this way.', 2 rez 5 strength sentry.
"Wait, if they run last click then my ice does nothing. I don't want my ice to do nothing", The King exclaimed. There were some attempts at salvaging our design, but the conversation died down soon after as we were nearing the pizzeria.
