Blastin' Fast (24th @ London Regionals)

oops, you got shot!

It's Built to Blast again. Specifically, it's aashbo's list from SW Regionals with the recommended -1 Oaktown -1 Government Subsidy +1 Audacity +1 Project Atlas. aashbo's writeup (better than this one!) goes over the game plan - in short, drag the runner through a remote as often as possible while threatening Public Trail -> EotL. With the changes, the play pattern is much the same, except the final two points are ideally Audacity'd from hand. The deck ended up not scoring out at all on the day, though.

Game 1 - Loss vs Knife Sable

I pushed a little too aggressively early on, cracked a Border Control (the only ice) on my remote to strand a Boomerang, and then couldn't get enough ice to defend centrals before getting knifed. Ended up with way more money than I could use, since Sable didn't contest my remote after the first time. In hindsight, cracking the BC was definitely a misplay, as the extra ice was worth more than stranding the Boomerang.

Game 2 - Win vs Tao

Tao got a little too aggressive in the midgame and died to Public Trail -> EotL. The rest of this game has evaporated from my memory, probably because I was also playing Tao on the day and there's only room for so much Tao in one day.

Game 3 - Win vs Freedom

Freedom set up a little too aggressively turn 1, ran HQ and didn't check my naked Rashida (I'd mulliganed into no ice, so this was a bit of a desperate play). I had EotL in hand already and drew into Public Trail, and my opponent had neither enough cards nor credits. Shortest game of the tournament! If I hadn't drawn into the kill immediately, I would've probably been in trouble, since I was pretty flooded and low on ice.

Game 3 off-the-books redux - Loss vs Freedom

Since our first game took all of two minutes, we decided to run it back just for fun. I scored an Oaktown and City Works early, and had Audacity + Project Atlas in hand for the win next turn, but my opponent stole the Atlas from HQ (2/5 to hit the Atlas or the Audacity). I spent a couple turns drawing and cramming bait in the remote, but Freedom quickly stabilised and trivialised both my remote and HQ with Audrey/Leech/Botulus/Charm/Crew, and proceeded to steal a City Works from hand and a second Atlas from R&D before I could find more ice or the fast-advance win. I didn't see a single Hammer all game, sadly, which would have been very strong into the breaker suite I saw (assuming I could dodge Crew).

Overall

I think the deck did fairly well. My wins felt a little cheesy - more of an "oh, I guess I win now" than an "I have successfully outplayed my opponent", since the kill threat feels like it's meant to remain a threat to back up scoring rather than the intended win-con.
