System Gateway |
I am working on publishing a decklist for each of the factions, to give better options to teach the game to newer players, currently there are no bans in the System Gateway only format.
Check out Metropole Grid's Deckbuilding 101 Video's. Please watch his video's as they a great way to learn, as I based other decks off of the video's he completed.
Your primary goal is to win by accessing multiple cards from R&D using Conduit and making that easier with Tāo Salonga: Telepresence Magician to move ice around.
Your secondary goal is pivoting your pressure to HQ or their remote servers. You still can use Leech, or Tread Lightly to help get through some servers.
Icebreakers:
Mayfly is not considered here since it breaks itself, I think it's suited for a larger cardpool.
We have two options for our breaker to deal with barriers. Cleaver & Marjanah They break the high strength barriers for about the same, but the cheaper barriers it's generally better to have Cleaver especially when used with Leech.
Unity is a great icebreaker for code gates and can support a strong late game with the ability to boost its strength better as you get built out.
Carmen is very similar to Echelon. Since Carmen can be boosted effectively for 2 credits allowing us to still have pressure in the early game if needed. Since we will also be running frequently, we should be installing this for 3 credits a fair bit as well.
Programs:
Conduit is a great card and it's our main way to power through R&D to find agendas. Generally, this is a mid to late game play, but you could use this as some early pressure if the corp places to much ice on their HQ and remote servers.
Leech is a great way to save credits breaking through stronger ice with our breakers. They are great value for breaking routines but can be a bit steep when needing to strengthen them.
Economy:
Sure Gamble & Creative Commission are great staples that allows you to gain credits even before you are setup to run protected servers. You will also generally only get credits with Wildcat Strike so its almost additional copies of Sure Gamble
Jailbreak is a great threat. Additional access & draw a card.
Overclock is great to punch through servers that you need to break through some ice.
Pantograph & DZMZ Optimizer both provide minor economy over time, but more importantly give use more to use for programs.
Smartware Distributor is wonderful trickle economy and will help you spend your clicks more efficiently.
Telework Contract is a powerful economy card, giving us a gain of 8 credits. They also help prevent issues rebounding from low credits.
Tricks & Tools:
VRcation is one of the few cards that lets you draw in system gateway. Don't be too afraid to play it for 2 clicks first if your hand is full of cards you don't want to play.
Tread Lightly Is a pseudo economy piece, but you can access a server with 2 pieces of unrezzed ice, and either see what they are hiding or make them pay to keep you out.
Verbal Plasticity is needed to help you dig for your breakers, hardware, or economy. If you don't see this early to mid-game you will find yourself clicking to draw cards frequently. This is a key piece to get setup when you can.
Special Notes:
Learn when to play your programs to the board. You will need to manage your credit economy to make sure you continue to pressure the corp so you can setup your board.
Be careful amassing too much power on Conduit & Leech as you need to maximize the value of it before the corp purges the virus counters.
*In system gateway there are very few instant flatlines, so don't be afraid to run into ice without breakers, this allows you to learn what Icebreakers you should play first and gets the corp to spend some of their credits.
