The Secret in Asa Group's RND (3rd in Atlanta Districts)

ChiptheRipper 272

A decommissioned Adam lies on the floor of Asa Group's RND.

'You've performed well, Adam, almost credit perfect'. The scientist reactivates the brain chip modified with new programming. 'Care to learn our ways?'

...

Yes, teach me.

The scientist proceeds to upload archival replays of countless hacker attempts and server modifications into the brain chip. 'These are the ways, you must learn them. I will test you in the end to check if you are fully operational.'

Hours pass by of simulated hacker attacks. 'Click 2, you are not maximizing your value here, bzzt you need to install more servers for triggers, we need to achieve full lock'. bzzt 'You installed a sub optimal asset Adam'.

Days pass. 'Your ice placement is non ideal, bzzt you must go wide but not wasteful.'

'Good, that is a perfect bluff of the Skunkworks, yes give them the whale. Make sure to reduce random accesses'

The learning curve metrics start to finally hit key performance indicators.

By my own calculations, there is an 88% chance that the runner is able to infiltrate.

The scientist takes a sigh of relief, 'Chef's kiss, phenomenal job. I will provide you with some clones and another specialized bioroid to accompany you. Just in case, here's a gun'.

And so, even as Asa Group's military services were being phased out for Haas Bioroid's developments in a new location, Adam was connected to RND optimizing it's defenses and queuing it's resources until the very end.

Tournament Summary

Round 2 vs Control (Esa Afontov)

Lost an Offworld Office and a Project Vitruvius to early sabotage runs. Scored a Vitruvius without a counter to trigger [Powers] on tempo and Vitruvius with a counter later on. After reinforcing rnd and archives, Project Ikawah was used to close the game. This was the tightest game to be behind early.

Round 5 vs Maj.Apollo (Ken)

Hot off the previous game against Sportsmetal. This was the test to see if Ken was Kenough. Ken stole an agenda early and proceeded to divert credits but once everything was fully operational, not even a swift joy ride into rnd transitioning to an inside job was enough for the military industrial complex protecting Ikawah. Ken rode off swiftly into the sunset.

This write up is dedicated to my Asa Group teacher, Redino, who taught me how to play the ID in 2023 and helped me work out a lot of guiding principles throughout my tournaments that year. It was so good to see you at worlds this past year and I hope to see you again sometime!

Also shoutouts to my team for working through Asa leading up to worlds. Jinja Asa was almost a thing!

Of course thank you to the ATL meta, a more extensive s/o for y'all is in my runner write up.

Finally, thank you to all the other Asa enthusiasts Banknote, The King for developing the framework of this list, Icecreamcollage for some replays of the list, and of course Asa ride or die, Jai! Good to meet you briefly at worlds this year!

Truly honored to be memorialized this way! I had a lot of fun getting to know you and working with you on Asa over the last few years, and I'm really proud of your placement! Cant wait for more deckbuilding talks in the future
