Deck valid after Sixth Rotation |
I started playing Netrunner in early 2024 after a coworker finally managed to get me to sit down for a teaching game. I was hooked. Having played Yugioh, Magic, and Hearthstone at various points I was drawn to the strange newness of Netrunner's asymetry and action economy.
Prepping for my first event in March of that year I decided to netdeck my runner and build my own corp. I built a terrible shell game Issuaq list that tried to score out blood in the water as a "3 pointer". Digging through NRDB for a runner I eventually settled on a DoomRig Alex list. I did poorly, but enjoyed the pseudo HQ pressure Alice provided as well as the late game inevitability of turbine.
Over a full year later and the DFW grid was set to host a district championship in the final days of mixed FFG/NSG standard. I knew what I had to do. I made a few changes to accommodate my preferences, mostly Keiko over Patchwork and moving to 2x breaks plus labor rights. I had become a bit better at Netrunner in a year, enough to know that rocking Alice in 2025 was unlikely to be the best decision. But I felt that it was my last chance to pay respect to the deck that got me into the game. Imagine my pleasant surprise to go undefeated with her in the Swiss, losing in the first round of the cut to - appropriately enough - LadyKiller Outfit.
Continued thanks to the DFW, Austin, and Houston Netrunner communities for making the game fun, inviting, and challenging. Shoutouts to blurbie for local organizing and to Trenzor, Soarix, clairerio11, and merethom for always finding time to jam a few games.
