I Predict A Riot - 1st Place Worlds Warmup CO

Baa Ram Wu 2286

... It's 12.40am - I've just got home from my last full time shift at the Restaurant I work at and have drunk just enough wine to colour my vision enough that playing in Vales online CO would be a great idea.

I have been playing this busted deck for a while and knew that I could easily make decisions on the line and that the games would go quickly which based on the time of night seemed pretty important.

Last minute change was adding back in 2x IP Block (-1 Eula -1 Vasilisa) as 419 is now a thing again!

Deck is busto - Going Undefeated* 5-0

(*please see comments on my game vs Sir Loathing below)

Game 1 - Win Vs Ginevra on Lat - 4 Turns

I keep a hand with 2x Drago + seamless but no ice, Gin finds and trashes both (1 from the table 1 from hand in the first 2 turns but I have the econ advantage and land a HHN - G plays aggressively, doesn't clear the tags and gets boomed next turn.

Game 2 Win vs Rjorb on Hoshiko - 5 Turns

I mulligan into a hand that is 2x Drago, 1 IP block, 1 predictive and a Spin and mando a Boom. this is pretty much a 90% jack pot hand (Ping instead of ip block would be 100%).

I Instal the Drago behind the ip block and stick the spin on the table, Rjorb has a clunky opening hand (lookig at the replay), draws, clicks for a credit and runs the Drago server.

I rez the IP block and after a short think, i work out that the play here is to boost the trace by all my money - forcing them to pay 6 (all they have as hosh hasn't flipped yet) or take a tag - they pay and see a drago they can't trash.

Next turn is predictive double advance and give a tag - from this point the prison lock feels inpalce (from turn 2!) Hoshiko can't find a Pinhole and I land a boom turn 5.

Round 3 Win vs GilesDavies on Wu - 13 turns

This one went long as Giles got a very strong econ start and was able to run through my Eula/Ping remote to trash an early drago, I then couldnt find a second drago for ages, and with an SMC always on the table threatening Misdirection the HHN plays weren't worth going for. I have to bait out a run with a degree mill to stop the game getting away from me and i get lucky that giles dosen't check the bin after I discard a second degree mill (without a spin Dr on board) as he has the Mad dash in hand most game.

Eventually I set up a triple prisec remote, baiting a pinhole and then jam a double adv Drago in it next turn with seamless into Boom the turn after.

A Note: This decks particular weakness is to Mad Dash - especially as you will often discard agendas as you never want to really score them - the fact the runner can check the bin, deny the steal and come back with a dash is a risk you just have to live with.

Cut Round 1 - Win* vs Sir Loathing on Alice - 16 turns

This was a game I had no right whatsoever winning, Loathing had incredible econ and HHN was n ever even close to being a consideration, he had great central pressure with Alice + Apoc + Stargates in his list.

I won this game purely on the fact that in his 50 card deck ALL THREE black orchestras were in the BOTTOM SIX cards. with an enigma on archives and finally the second enigma on the remote I could land the drago seamless boom 1 turn before he finally drew in to his only way through the little code gate that could.

Cut Round 2 - Win vs Jonky Bong a.k.a. Huggernaut on 419 - 10 Turns

Huggernaught gets a No free lunch and aumakua down early, i decided to discard a degree mill to se if I can get him to throw them both back - which he does! He receives a Hard Hitting news for his troubles next turn, bringing up both down to low credits.

I end up scoring a slow rolled Bellona for credits at one point, then manage to bait a run into a server with a prisec and spin dr. I am VERY HAPPY to see a mad dash pinged with the prisec damage.

This finally puts him in HHN range again, this time without the money to clear the tags and receives a missile through the window next turn.

All in all was a fun time - Great to hang out and play with some of my fellow drop bears - Thanks to everyone I played against and to Vale for Organising and letting me jump in at the very last minute.

Excellent write-up. What does Vasilisa do for the deck that Turnpike doesn't? Did it help you get advances on Drago Ivanov and win from that?

Thanks for sharing and congratulation on your victory.

^^ exactly - Vasilisa is far more threatening on centrals than turnpike if you have a drago in the remote and sometimes just gets you wins because your single advanced Drago became a double advanced one out of no where!
