[Okorina] The Nihilist (2nd @ Okorina 5, 1-2)

Gathzen 412

Okorina ID: The Nihilist - 45/15

This was my first time playing in the Okorina format, even if it's something I've been really interested in due to the pure jank and fun you can have. The approach I had to create my Runner and Corp deck were very different.

For my Runner I already knew I wanted to play The Nihilist ever since I learned about this format. I knew it was probably not the most competitive, but it looked fun and I wanted to try building it.

I went 1-2 with my Runner. I was happy I got to take at least 1 game as the meta seemed very Corp favored.

Round 2 (Loss): My first Runner game was up against DeeR playing AR-Enhanced Security, it was very scary but also very cool to play against them. Thankfully, a lot of the trashing that my deck does if forcing the Corp to do it, so I do not trigger AR-Enhanced Security. Sadly, I was not able to find a way to break ICE quick enough and they were able to score out on a SanSan City Grid very quickly.

Round 3 (Loss): Next ended up being another team-kill (first was round 1), as I was paired up with wowarlok playing a very cool Broad Daylight kill deck. I felt like I had a pretty good early game and was able to put decent pressure on the Corp, but it all changed as soon as I stole a City Works from Archives. My econ was not the strongest and the combo of Public Trail into Oppo Research was really strong. There was not much I could do at this point and I flatlined the next turn to Broad Daylight into End of the Line.

Round 6 (Win): My last round was against Silent Arbiter playing Divested Trust like but had a different gameplan, which was very interesting. I got extremely lucky and avoided Punitive Counterstrike turns twice thanks to Steelskin Scarring! Got them all very early and kept them in hand and then got lucky on the hits. After the threat of Punitive Counterstrike, it was a bit easier for me to pressure the Corp. In the end I also got lucky off a sabotage trigger from Avgustina Ivanovskaya that got me the last agenda in Archives.

Big thanks to Testrunning for organizing and running the event. It was super fun!

Also, big thanks to Xiaat for his help and advice when I was building my decks!
