Artistic Yogasaurus is Hungry!

CrushU 193

Relatively traditional Yog.0saurus build. I'd been playing Kit for a while, though admittedly right after playing Parasite Recursion Kate (before PrePaid existed), so I found that I liked the power of that strategy, but a lot of Corps simply didn't rez their ICE against Kate to avoid getting them eaten, unless they would hurt her bad (like Archer). My solution was to run the same package in Kit, where the Corp needs to rez two ICE before I care, and I can usually Parasite one of them.

Card Choices:

  • Wyrm over Datasucker I found that a savvy Corp would clear viruses, leaving me unable to kill ICE for a turn or two. My solution was to use Wyrm, so I'm always able to kill ICE (Except Lotus Field. And you can keep those, says Yogasaurus.)
  • Magnum Opus economy Because of Wyrm, I needed to have a REALLY strong economy that gave me real money, so no fake money from Lockpick/Toolbox. This led to...
  • Leprechaun Because I wanted to run Paintbrush and Magnum Opus, the only way for me to have that much memory easily was Leprechaun. It's quite useful in Shaper, too, because I can find it with SMC. This guy's worked out quite well for me, despite needing to care about Install Order even more.

Scrubber because I hate assets. Escher is amazing, once. Pawnshop and Codebusting and Casts for clickless-ish Econ while I'm waiting for my dreaded Install Order.

I haven't yet taken it to any tournaments. :(

Armitage is dead once you have Opus out. What about trying out Tyson Observatory to get your Dino on quicker? Yog at 5 can do some decent pressure for you even before your other pieces get in place.

I'm aware of the issue with Armitage, allow me to try and persuade you:
It is actually better than Opus, because of Pawnshop, but I can only draw three Armitage, and I can tutor for Opus. Opus is not an early SMC target.
I remember seeing elsewhere a long time ago someone ran Armitage and Opus, on the reasoning of 'Until I get my Opus, Armitage is actually better, and after that, well, that's the price I pay for not sacrificing my non-Opus games.' Aesop's is my attempt to get some of that back.

I do like Tyson Observatory though, and I've been looking for a deck to put it in... Probably go right into here, pulling 2x Dino and maybe a Gamble. (I don't need Gamble when I have Opus.) Thanks!

My last Yogasaurus also used Leprechaun, but I went 3xMagnum, 3xLeprechaun, 3xDino, 3xTest Run, 3xSMC and it still set up too slowly. Armitage does help with that somewhat as you aren't stalled until you get Opus. I'm not convinced just due to card slots. I guess Armitage is your primary Aesop's target? You can get 1 extra credit with it for Daily Casts also, but I'm not convinced there either. Of course I haven't played Yogasaurus for a long time and haven't played your version so you could be right.

Modded would have a lot of decent targets. I don't know that I'd take out Dino, as you aren't running Scavenge and Kit is at her best early, so getting Dino out seems like priority 1.

I might try this:

I like those ideas. :) And yeah, Aesop's gives an extra credit, a turn earlier, with Daily Casts too. I've found that if I have a deck based around eating things with Aesop's, it tends to make Levy AR Lab Access just a little more powerful.

I do tend to like Aesop's more than I should, though, I'll try your suggestions. Thanks, again! :)

I did want to ask: If the Corps you played against with your Kate build didn't want to rez ice... didn't you just win? That's better than trashing it!

They rezzed ICE that was painful to facecheck. So while Ice Wall and Quandary wouldn't get rezzed, Archer and Tollbooth and Heimdall 2.0 and Ichi 1.0 would all get rezzed in her face... So I'd have to slow down and get breakers, but then I just decided to go with Kit so I can just get one breaker, and start facechecking and killing ICE.
