Old Wise Man

efialto 9

A wait and see deck, not recommended for impatient runners. Better served with bourbon.

The idea is to have about 10-15 cards in hand with at least 10 more creds than cards in hand. At that point, you can access wherever you want whenever you want. You can use that to make the corp wonder what to do with the agendas that clog in HQ, and then access HQ with (possibly) 3 HQIs.

First turn, just mulligan for Theo or Hostage, and play it in the first turn. It usually requires discarding a card at the end of that turn, unless you have an Easy Mark or (i'm thinking on adding them) an Infiltration.

From there on, just keep adding money and cards to your pool. Reinforce your defenses with NA City Hall, your money gain with Data Folding/Tri-maf and wait for the corp to score its first agenda.

From that point on, you'll be gaining from 2 to 5 creds at the beginning of your turn, plus possibly more from Tri-mafs. Time to start searching for Sage and (better first installed) an Overmind. With 10+ cards in hand and Ekomind, you break barriers and codegates up to Str 7+, and can break 9+ sentry routines with Overmind: Everything becomes accessible if you reach this point.

This said... quite hard with FA corps, although feasible. Iain ability is triggered earlier, and you should start playing icebreakers way before it's optimal, but can be done.

Weak points: watch out your Sage, it's the only copy. And cover up Theo, usually with tons of creds to avoid tags, but NA City Hall is your friend too.
