I am working on publishing a decklist for each of the factions, to give better options to teach the game to newer players, currently there are no bans in the System Gateway only format.
Check out Metropole Grid's Deckbuilding 101 Video's. Please watch his video's as they a great way to learn, as I based other decks off of the video's he completed.
Your primary goal is to win by using your viruses for value making it easier to access servers, and to keep up your economy throughout the game. Leech & Botulus are your main sources for this.
Your secondary goal is finding your Docklands Pass and using Carnivore to push into the late game board to overwhelm the Corp, and lock down there hand.
Icebreakers:
Mayfly is not considered here since it breaks itself, I think it's suited for a larger cardpool.
We have two options for our breaker to deal with barriers. Cleaver & Marjanah They break the high strength barriers for about the same, but the cheaper barriers it's generally better to have Cleaver especially when used with Leech
We opt for Buzzsaw since it's only 1 strength away from the strongest code gate in system gateway and is in faction.
Echelon is our cheapest option and allows for us to spend our influence elsewhere.
Programs:
Botulus is great way to lock down a specific piece of ice. This can be great to shut down ice you can't deal with or would be more expensive to get through.
Fermenter is more economy and if you don't need the economy, you can let it grow and potentially make the Corp purge for their turn. Keep in mind eventually you will need to keep your other programs in play.
Leech is a great way to save credits breaking through stronger ice with our breakers. They are great value for breaking routines but can be a bit steep when needing to strengthen them.
Economy:
Sure Gamble is a great staple that allows you to gain credits even before you are setup to run protected servers. You will also generally only get credits with Wildcat Strike so its almost additional copies of Sure Gamble
Overclock is great to punch through servers that you need to break through some ice, and could use a boost in your economy
Telework Contract is great economy for an 8 gain.
Smartware Distributor is wonderful trickle economy and will help you spend your clicks more efficiently, and help you go late into the game.
Tricks & Tools:
Jailbreak is a great threat. Additional access and drawing a card.
Mutual Favor lets you find and install your icebreakers. It's not a card you want to play in your few first turns. Since we are only running one, we can hopefully use it to find our third icebreaker faster.
Carnivore, DZMZ Optimizer, & T400 Memory Diamond, are used to get more . This allows for us to have more programs out at once. Carnivore also gives us a way to trash cards we wouldn't normally be able too.
Docklands Pass is a great value piece for accessing multiple cards if you draw it.
Verbal Plasticity is needed to help you dig for your breakers, hardware, or economy. If you don't see this early to mid-game you will find yourself clicking to draw cards frequently. This is a key piece to get setup when you can.
For Cookbook the earlier you can install it the better. I could see this being swapped to something else, but its great value if you see it at the right time.
Special Notes:
Learn when to play the resources you have to the board. You will need to manage your credit economy and more importantly manage your virus counters. Sometimes you want the Corp to purge, but sometimes you don't.
In system gateway there are very few instant flatlines, so don't be afraid to run into ice without breakers, this allows you to learn what Icebreakers you can target with Botulus and gets the Corp to spend some of their credits.
