"Clever Girl"

This is a modified version of 'Friend to the Lizards'. I've been wanting to try a Chameleon/London Library deck since the cards were first released, fueled by that inner desire to turn an offbrand archetype into something legitimately competitive.

I have been testing this deck for a few weeks now with good success. The amount of click-compression feels rather insane, playing anything else now feels slow by comparison. I am still working on a few slots but it feels pretty cohesive. The overall strategy is as follows:

  • Try to Career Fair into Professional Contacts as soon as possible. You will need ProCo to draw through the rest of your deck and stay afloat economically while doing so. As you will soon see, both Haley's ID and Chameleon encourage this high rate of drawing, as the more cards you have in hand, the better chance you can compress the installation of two similar cards into a single click. Likewise,
  • Try to defer installing hardware as much as possible until you get one or more Technical Writers out. Having a TW out (let alone multiple) turn hardware installations into investments, especially with cheap bits like SMC, Clone Chip, LLDS, modded RDI.
  • Abuse SMC and Clone Chip to activate Haley's ID, installing two programs for no clicks (or even go up to 5 clicks with Autoscripter) and get money on Technical Writer.
  • Don't be afraid to let them score some early points, you will need a little bit of time to get up to speed and start getting money on TW. Clot should reduce anxiety about them scoring an early Astro, but an early Nisei and Caprice might ruin your day. Super rush decks are definitely this deck's weakness; slow decks that try to grind you down become a hilariously bad matchup as you will hum along, building up your rig and piling money onto TW. It's not uncommon to have upwards of 40cr on TWs late-game.
  • This deck attempts to mitigate Chameleon's fixed strength and lack of early LLDS by including Corroder, Dino and 2x Femmes. If you get an Autoscripter out early, install Femme on LL for no clicks or credits, activating Haley's ID to install Chameleon from hand as well (and gaining 2, 4 or 6 credits on Technical Writer depending on how many you have out) and start skipping around the board.
  • 'Hopscotch' is another name for this deck, particularly once you get 1 or 2 RDIs out - they will really feel the pressure and either be forced to shift their strategy to defending R&D or committing to rushing out in a remote.

That's all I can think of for now. I hope people enjoy it as much as I have, and that it encourages people to buck the meta and try more unconventional cards!

Just to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, when you use the London Library to Install Femme Fatale and Chameleon in your example, you clicked to install Femme Fatale for no credits, then you install Chameleon for 3 credits, right?
I really like your decklist here. Using Chameleon on London Library as a free install to trigger Technical Writer, and trigger Hayley Kaplan: Universal Scholar's free isntall to synergize with Sahasrara for even more credits is raising shaper shenanigans to new heights. I'm going to have to try this combo when I finally get my hands on Data and Destiny.

Chameleon costs 2 credits, which (ideally) will be covered by Sahasrara. If not, consider the install cost of 2cr for Chameleon paid forward onto the 2/4/6 credits you just made on Technical Writer.
