Milling Machine

Our local league offers special challenges for earning achievements. One of those achievements is to win a game as the runner without installing a breaker. This is my stab at taking that challenge. Yes, it does including a single Crypsis, but you don't have to install it, and that would still satisfy the challenge.

The goal here is pretty simple: mill. The viruses are cheap. I'm not looking to mess around with running, and the corp is going to figure that out pretty fast. I want to install viruses as quickly as I can and find my Hades Shard. If the corp gets into a winning position, or if I feel like I've milled enough agendas to win, pop Hades and hope for the best.

Autoscripter is here for click compression. I need to install as many viruses as I can on my turn, and getting an extra click for doing that really helps. Scheherazade helps offset the cost of the virus installs by giving you back a credit. Pairing up with Cyberfeeder can mean you actually make money on the single credit viruses (not to mention Cache).

Itinerant Protesters is here just to have a way to get rid of Cerebral Static. The whole game plan hinges on using our ID's ability, so that current is a concern.

Gravedigger can trigger in some interesting ways that I'll be looking for in other decks where I might use it in the future. It isn't limited to the runner trashing assets and upgrades (or even agendas with #Imp). It triggers when the corp trashes their own cards too.

Milling this aggressively can really put the corp off balance. A smart corp is going to stand up a single EtR ice remote as soon as possible and score anything they can get their hands on. You'll just have to hope to be lucky and beat them to the punch.

Have you considered D4vid and parasites? Neither of them are breakers but they still have the power to get you into scoring remotes, so you can still score that achievement while stealing agendas.

Running is the absolute last option, so I didn't build much in to support it. Parasites need rezzed ice to live on, and that means I need to run to make them useful. D4vid crossed my mind as a way to strictly meet the no breakers goal, but there are a lot of low strength EtR ice out there. Crypsis is guaranteed to get me through on attempt 1 (assuming I have the bank roll). I only needed a single win without a breaker installed to meet the goal of the challenge, so I felt that this was a fair compromise that gave me a good shot at the goal while not completely wrecking my win rate for the night.
