The Victoria BC meta had the pleasure of Sokka’s presence for the past couple of months, but he’s moving on, so we threw him a little farewell GNK this week.
In the ABR event description, the prize kit for which included full-art Beholds, I wrote: “Come give William a fond farewell, in his last Netrunner night with us in town! He’s got a real soft spot for “Behold!” after his Worlds 2023 run, after having to play a bunch of Snare Bears NEH lists in the cut, so be sure to pack three copies in your Corp deck and hopefully replace them with full-bleeds at the end of the night!,” which mission statement I took seriously.
Largely based on my House Hippo pal Aruzan’s World’s-Winning R+ list and a small blend of my beloved Banana Breath, I shovelled this into Azmari and it managed a 2-0 performance, with flatlines against Arissana and Hoshiko. In both cases, at least one False Lead was sacked to stick tags, and kills were with double End of the Line. The inclusion of 3x False Lead into a list like this is a diabolical intervention, which I applaud Aruzan and others before him for.
I cut five cards from “Forced Errors” in order to find kill pieces faster, as well as to throw Sokka off the scent of what flavor of Azmari this was. If 40 cards, I’m sure he’d have suspected a Reeducation kill list, and at 49, probably Aruzan’s deck almost card-for-card, so I split the difference, and he did ask the number of cards before our meeting in the final round, as I suspected he would.
My runner for the event was my APAC-winning Hoshiko list, which also went 2-0.
It was great having you around our scene for a while, Sokka. We're sorry you've reached the end of the line with us. You will be missed!
