Road To Startup CO - New Friends PD

Hi everyone! I am hosting a Startup CO with the new ban list in the Seattle area 3/9, and thought it would be fun to post a weekly Startup deck idea until the tournament. The key word is “idea”, I hope it I get peoples deck building juices flowing for the tournament, these decks are not refined. Hope to see y’all then!

This weeks deck was inspired by my experience at our local meetup last week. We are lucky to have a lot of new attendees, who all have different stories: completely new to the game, returning from FFG era, returning from earlier NSG era, and we even had the lead developer from the original wizards of the coast Netrunner ( so cool!). After the teaching decks startup is the natural next progression. However, I ran into a problem when I reached into my deck box for decks to play with my “new friend”. All my startup decks are mean and degenerate or difficult to pilot for a newer player (see my previous posts). I needed something that would help teach fundamentals while creating a good experience. I want to keep my new friend.

HENCE: NEW FRIEND PD

This is the same PD deck you know and love, adapted to be basic yet powerful for startup. I will in no way say this is original, and some cards can be optimized, but it’s a good starting point.

Basics for uninitiated: 1) create a remote where you will try to rush out agendas. Scoring agendas and recurring seamless launch creates tempo the runner will have a hard time keeping up with. 2) skunk and void in the remote - if they get in allow skunk to fire first then void if they pay the tax ( since they have the same trigger you chose the order). 3) set up enough defensive on centrals to not lose, depending on where the pressure is. 4) win

You can swap around cards as you feel it fits you, there is room to experiment.

Specific notes on this build -more ice to be forgiving on bad draws

• 3 x Regolith- you will hopefully only need to mash through one then you be set, but if you need to slow and set up it is there.

-2 x Vovo- good value early and can be used as a bluff
