Jeeveteki Biotech:Life Insignificant 1.1

As a disclaimer I haven't play tested this yet, but I play a similar PE deck, and it's tons of fun.

This is what a Cambridge style PE deck turned into.

My one issue with Jinteki Biotech: Life Imagined, is that once you use it, you can't do anything else that turn. So really, with the brewery, you do 2 damage... Yay? Not enough to flatline anyone. But with Jeeves Model Bioroids you can do 2 damage and then Ronin, Scorched Earth, or Neural EMP. The nice thing about brewery and ronin is that the runner doesn't need to be tagged, and they didn't need to run during their turn.

Now add into the mix 3 Bio-Ethics Association and this could get nasty.

But with Jeeves Model Bioroids you can do other tricks.

Neural EMP twice, pull them out of archives using Allele Repression (you can use Himitsu-Bako as fodder if you want), and then Neural two more times.

How about fast advance a Philotic Entanglement and then follow with a Ronin? (you could also fast advance a TFP using Greenhouse and Jeeves)

Have a single advanced Ronin on the table, advance 3 times and pop it. (Or use the Greenhouse ability to 4 advance a Ronin, and pop it all in the same turn).

All this with BEA. And regular Trap goodness.

Crick should help with reinstalling things, though I'm guessing it won't be a surprise with faceup cards. But it might be a good way to get back some support cards. Jeeves Model Bioroids does have a high trash cost.

Thomas Haas is my account siphon support. (Could use the Greenhouse ability to load this card up)

Green Level Clearance keeps your hand full of fun stuff.

Double Scorched Earth with Allele Repression.

If you want, you could swap Neural EMP for Cerebral Cast to try and land the Scorched Earth.

Obviously centrals are weak, and so R&D digs hurts. I'm not too sure what to do about that one. Perhaps try to slot in a couple of Shock!?

I am also considering False Lead instead of Profiteering.

Ideas? Thoughts?

I've been trying to figure out something similar. So, commenting here just to keep up with what I hope is an evolving bunch of comments. I've been trying Allele Repression a lot lately, too, and it's not exactly working, but it's a nice extra Mushin target to recur stuff when you need to, and also a fun way to dump extra Snares back into your hand before an HQ access.

I think Allele Repression is an awesome card. The ability to stock your hand at any rez window is great, so you can basically streamline your hand before your turn even starts. Archived Memories is awesome, but you can only use it during your turn (though I wish this deck had space for Reclamation Order). Furthermore, what's great about it, when you exchange cards you put the cards into Archives facedown. Only problem is that Allele Repression is a bit pricey, but with Mushin No Shin it offsets the cost.

I published a PE deck a while back, and aside from that deck having Shock!, Allele Repression will work similar in this deck. This is what I said in the other deck:

"What's nice about it, is that it can mascarade as a trap, you can collapse a server, and you can use it on any rez window. Things you can do with it: 1. When the runner is running HQ, pull snares back into hand. 2. Go for the Double Scorched Earth kill. 3. Pull itself back out of Archives. 4. Pull Mushin No Shin out too. 5. Grab any number of traps back. A devious play could be, install Himitsu-Bako early and make so the runner pulls out and installs a Fracter. Once both Himitsu-Bako are rezzed and no longer needed, pull them back to hand using their ability, and use them to grab things with Allele Repression. Now the runner has a useless Fracter sitting about, and you have some good cards."

Oh btw, you can Mushin No Shin any asset. You could use Psychic Field or Snare! as a Mushin target. Super sneaky to do that.

Yep, Mushining a Psychic Field or Snare is usually a desperation move, but it's been known to work in some situations. I once Mushined a Psychic Field and then put a piece of (porous) ICE in front of it, to fake out rushing out an agenda. Runner used 3 clicks to get money and ran it 4th click, got through, lost their hand. Next turn, Neural kill. I actually find that so much more fun and satisfying than the more reliable, effective ways of killing with PE.

Anyway, questions:

• Do you think you need 3x Bio-Ethics? I'm not completely sold on the card outside of IG. It's gotten me a kill or two in PE, but I need to be running 3x Psychic Field and put the fear of running into that in the Runner first before I get any Bio-Ethics on the table.

• Considered Cerebral Casts in here? The Scorched will only land if they don't shake Siphon tags or if they hit a Snare on 4th click (with no False Leads).

• Not sold on Tommy Haas, but I guess if you need money. If you keep him, I'd definitely get rid of at least 1x Profiteering and put in False Leads instead.

Thanks for the comments @scd! I've edited my deck a bit according to your questions.

  • No I do not think I need 3 Bio-Ethics Association. Though I haven't played with them much, but I can imagine they get trashed fairly easily. In a new version I dropped 1 of them.

  • I did consider adding Cerebral Cast. But I wasn't sold on it. I like the idea of using the Brewery, Jeeves, and then last click Neural EMP instead. With Casts it won't help me to damage them. I do like the mind games of Casts, but I like the raw damage of Neural. In my newest version I dropped Scorched for Punitive, so I won't need to land tags.

  • I am not either sold on Thomas Haas. It's a card I want to like. It could potentially make money with Greenhouse and Mushin... but the low trash cost kind of kills it. In my new version I replaced it with Sealed Vault.

So that being said, my new version:

-2 Profiteering -1 Bio-Ethics Association -1 Thomas Haas -1 Scorched Earth

+2 False Lead +1 Sealed Vault +1 Punitive Counterstrike +1 Reclamation Order

Though I'm a bit worried about the economy.

How about -1 Chronos Project, +1 The Future is Now (for the tutor effect) and -1 Green Level Clearance, + 1 Corporate Town. That might help against things like Film Critic and Guru Davinder.

Still playing around with this, so one more update:

Punitive Counterstrike didn't really work for me. Creds are hard to come by, so the trace is tricky. And then you usually need some sort of follow up. I removed the Counter Strike, 1 Cortex Lock and the Swordsman, so I can put in 2 Chrysalis and a Marcus Batty.

Chrysalis doubles as a trap (until sentry breakers hit the table), later Batty provides a chance to deal 2 net damage. I use him on R&D or HQ - so there is even a chance he even triggers the same round as a Snare!.

Hi @gegenzeit, thanks so much for trying this deck! I haven't pursued this deck any more myself, but it's really really cool that people are giving it a try.

I really like the look of Chrysalis! I don't have that data pack, and I wasn't aware of that card. Looks like it would slot in nicely.

The reason I like Punitive Counterstrike or Scorched Earth is that it is aggressive and not reactive. Same reason I like the Neural EMP. Though perhaps these days there's better offensive cards, I dunno.

After removing Punitive Counterstrike, what did you put the influence towards?

Thanks for some good ideas!

I haven't used the influence yet. I'm thinking about slotting in some out of faction Ice. But I'm new to Netrunner, so I'll need to physically go through my cards and find something - I'll have a look tomorrow. It should be cheap and offer good sub routines to use with Marcus Batty - preferably one that hurts and one end the run.

Ah, and Chrysalis won me my second game tonight! A deep medium click stumbled across both of them and wasn't able to draw enough cards not to be flatlined on my turn :) I'm thinking about putting all three in. On the other hand, I was lucky my opponent couldn't break them. This will need a lot of testing :)

I think Account Siphon/denial decks are prolly a nightmare. I haven't played one yet, but the likelihood of getting Sealed Vault on time is slim.

@gegenzeit I'm looking through my deck archives, and back in June it looks like I had updated this deck to version 1.2. In my latest version here are my changes over the 1.1 version:

-1 Chronos Project -2 Profiteering -1 Bio-Ethics Association -1 Thomas Haas -1 Hedge Fund -1 Scorched Earth -1 Himitsu-Bako -1 Crick -1 Swordsman

+3 False Lead +2 Celebrity Gift +1 Punitive Counterstrike +1 Viper +1 Wraparound +1 Komainu +1 Crisium Grid

This probably would have been easier to publish a new list, versus typing that out heh. But yeah, those were my tweaks I had made a while back. I think my line of reasoning was, False Lead makes so the runner has no click to draw back up. Kind of a click lead for the corp, with Jeeves, it would give us 4 clicks and the runner only 2. Though thinking about it, Chronos Project is still a great card, especially with Paperclip being a thing.

I had similar thoughts with Viper, in order to cause the runner to lose a click and limit drawing. But at the same time, be taxing credit wise so the runner couldn't beat the trace on Punitive Counterstrike. I also needed another HB because I dropped the tommy haas.

Celebrity Gift because it rakes in the dough, and doubles aren't too bad with Jeeves. Bonus points for revealing a punitive, and then using it.

And Crisium Grid, because it's a lot more versatile than Sealed Vault. It's great account siphon protection.

Now again, all these changes were before these fancy new data packs. Perhaps there's some even better cards that could be slotted now.

Sweet, I'll play around with this and update once I've settled on a list of cards. I really like the Celebrity Gift for more creds. I also might go Neural Katana over Komainu simply for hitting the runner with Marcus Batty.

Awesome @gegenzeit! Let me know if you publish a deck list. I'd love to check it out! Thanks for giving this deck a go!
