The Solid Whizzard

linuxmaier 711

Whizzard is the go-to for everyone who looks at Anarch and says "Hey, there's a lot of solid attack cards in there" so I figured when I started noticing how nicely Atman patches holes in the fixed-breakers suite, I'd give him a whirl.

Basically, it's pressure on demand for any central with very efficient running and ice destruction.

Your deck seems good, but apart from a single Quality Time, lacks any sot of draw. By the looks of it, you'll be swimming in credits, so maybe an Earthrise Hotel could help you out there - it's better than Wyldside if you are rich.

Also, maybe add a Same Old Thing or two for Account Siphon recursion, as it's a bit of a waste of your Déjà Vu.

You might need a D4v1d or Crypsis in your deck to deal with Blue Sun - which will currently be a difficult matchup, and definitively against Lotus Field.

At the moment your only way to break a Lotus Field is by a 4-Strength Atman, which is generally the 2nd Atman you put down. Most decks run at least 1x Lotus Field, so it's going to be a little problematic.

However, I have to say that I do love Whizzard, even though he has 0 Link, but it's always fun trashing every asset NEH puts down.

Thanks for all your help with my experiments today, @merrja :D

The reason for having 2 Atman in the deck is to make sure I get it. I'm not sure if this is the best plan, but I have no experience with Atman (I'm normally Shaper, but Kit rather than Kate) so I don't know how it'll work out. The plan, though, is to have Atman at 4 supplement the fixed breaker suite to get me through things cheaply. Depending on the matchup, another Atman at something like 6 may be called for, but I wouldn't anticipate it given the number of Parasites available.

You're right, though: Blue Sun would eat this deck alive. I don't see -too- much of it in my local meta (it's all over OCTGN though) so I think it's an ok risk. If I run into a ton of it, I'll just have to grumble and moan and stop playing with fun things and go back to Big Rig Shaper. Blue Sun is my least favorite matchup these days.

Card Draw was definitely a concern and before I put Account Siphon in here, I had 3 Quality Time to back it up. I could cut the second Atman for more QT; do you think that's worth it? I don't have the pack with Earthrise Hotel at the moment. I could also go Wyldside, but I would then need to find the influence for Aesop's Pawnshop which sounds even harder to fit.

I'm not anticipating doing too much Account Siphon recursion (my experience is that once the first one is played, corps tend to make it unprofitable to play the second/3rd/18th) but if I find that this does a great job tearing open HQ, I'll definitely consider dropping some cards to throw those in. Currently, I value Plascrete Carapace over Same Old Thing because of the ability to go tag-me.
