Nascent Architecture

alancandenza 1

this is my first ever deck. Wanted to go with HB, aimed to build some fairly strong ICE, almost glacier-style, with some cards in the backup for fast advance if necessary.

This is probably rubbish.

I think this is definitely on the right track. I love Advanced Concept Hopper as an agenda. I think it's lost favor because Corporate Sales Team might just be better but the draw is great! A few suggestions:

  1. You've got some unspent influence. You could throw in another SanSan City Grid to increase your consistency. I am guessing you might only have one core set though. If so, I would at least get Biotic Labor up to three. You might include some more draw to get your fast advance pieces faster.

  2. On the subject of ice, I would try Enigma over NEXT Bronze for a cheap code gate. I do really love the inclusion of Rototurret though. It's a classic. However, the problem with fast advance is it's expensive and some of your ICE is pretty bulky. See if you can find some cheaper alternatives to Heimdall 1.0 and 2.0. You'll just have to test to see which ICE works best for you. I think there's a LOT of great HB ice you could consider including Fairchild 3.0, Eli 1.0, Architect, etc.

  3. Finally, I think you could use a bit more SPICE! If you want to go big glacier I might try Corporate Troubleshooter, Sandburg, or Eliza's Toybox. If you want to give yourself some more fast advanced tools try Jeeves Model Bioroids or Clone Suffrage Movement/ Archived Memories to retrieve Biotic Labor. If you're falling short on econ I migh try our Breaker Bay Grid to increase your return on Adonis Campaign/ Eve Campaign. I think Restructure, Blue Level Clearance, and Green Level Clearance are great, quick options too!

Welcome to the game! We're so excited to have you. Play around and let me know how things go. This is a deck that looks versatile and I'll be curious if you start to lean one way or another.

Welcome to NetrunnerDB and to deckbuilding ;)

Don't be too harsh on yourself, this is by far not the worst first deckbuilding try.

A few tips on your ICE suite:

  • NEXT Bronze is weak on it's own without other NEXT ICE, so as a 1-of it's kinda disappointing.
  • Minelayer is awesome in theory, I've used it a lot when I first started deckbuilding. But it's highly unreliable, so don't expect too much of it.
  • Zed 1.0 is only good if you leave it unrezzed, put a bioroid in front of it, wait until the runner approaches it while having spend a that run and then rez it when it's s are actually meaningful. But even then it's a mere 2 tax for a runner that has any decent killer out. So it only really shines if the runner has no killer AND has broken a bioroid before Zed. Now THAT is a situational card! :D

Other than these few ICE the deck looks solid. You have a glacier plan, a fast advance backup plan and a good mix of different economy cards to make it work.

Too bad there's only 1 SanSan in the Core Set, you'd have the card slots and influence leftover for a second.

Thanks very much for those comments! You're right in that at the moment I only have 1 core set - and I'm limited in my card pool in general; this deck is just a way for me to start dipping my toes into the waters. I'm definitely going to try and play the deck, and then see if I can start to swap in some of the cards you mentioned to see if they work better.

Thanks again for being so encouraging!
