Spanish Inquisition v2

apo 462

Second revision of this deck.

I dropped both bishops and lone crypsis to make room for 3 knights. This turned out to be an extremely positive change and allows the deck to break into the remotes out of the blue.

Gameplan:

  • keep the corp low on cash (reina, xanadu, rooks, FAOs)
  • destroy ice in strategic places (usually rnd) with FAOs
  • dig through the rnd with medium and imps
  • trash high cost assets with imps
  • go tagme with siphons mid to late game (with plascretes/imps to help mitigate)
  • conjure nerve agent when least expected
  • use knights to breach remotes by surprise
  • deja vu use depends on situation - bring back either siphon, both imps or something important lost to damage

Gorman simply fills last influence point - it was easy mark before. I feel I usually get more out of gorman, though it is more conditional whereas easy mark helps to get back on your feet no matter what. Not sure about this yet.

If you don't have any econ card in starting hand (siphons don't count), mulligan. There are very rare times when you want to mull even with econ - example: sure gamble, deja vu, plascrete, plascrete, nerve agent. I have much fun playing this deck. Please comment so I can make it better!

I like your approach to Reina, I've been working along similar lines, I'd love to hear more about why you felt knight was such a positive change. Is it just a good card, or was the remote swing really missing in this deck?
How do you find viruses and caissa together?
I haven't tried that yet I've always gone full one or the other, have you found memory to be an issue?

@Garbo

Thx for a kind word.

Previous version just couldn't get to fast remotes early on. I could tutor for Crypsis, install it, load it and run - but it took forever and all my cash. Now it is not a problem at all, I can just drop a knight and run. I actually thought knight is not good at all, but I have to reconsider. It is really solid.

Memory is not an issue at all - caissa stuff goes to deep red's 3MU, which is plenty since people often trash caissa'ed ice. Viruses go to djinn, which shows up early cause I run 3 of them. Parasite has counter-synergy with caissa, so I dropped this particular virus. Otherwise I don't see why caissa and viruses wouldn't work together and I need medium for my win condition anyway.

So I played in a local tourney yesterday with this deck. It was 4 rounds of swiss and my Reina went 3-1 losing only to "score that astro super fast" NBN the world is yours deck. Need more playtesting IRL and get used to how to play this deck efficiently.

This looks like a solid take on Reina. Just a couple quick comments:

I'd run either a third Datasucker or a second Medium over a third Djinn. You very rarely want to play more than one Djinn anyway, and since you're running three of Deep Red, it's not like you really need one copy ASAP - you should be set for memory until you're pretty much all done putting your rig together. Another good choice for that card slot might be a second Deja Vu - one really isn't enough for all the utility it provides, I feel.

One thing I'm not sure about is the singleton Gorman Drip. Seems... I dunno, too circumstantial I suppose. Has it worked well for you? Do you Djinn for it after siphoning the corp to zero? If so, how many times did you actually get to make that ideal play? I'd probably run an Akamatsu Mem Chip (to lessen my Djinn dependency) in its stead, or maybe get a Compromised Employee instead, to help with econ. Of course, then I'd be tempted to drop one copy of my 2-inf card, and fit in 2 more of them :D

Thanks for the comments!

I reasoned I need 3 djinn, because whenever I install early a non-icebreaker program without djinn (a program I actually want to keep for a long time, say datasucker or medium), I cripple my ideal MU setup (3 breakers, djinn with stuff, caissa on deep red). I don't want to play more than one djinn, I just want it early on.

I'd probably run an Akamatsu Mem Chip (to lessen my Djinn dependency)

Akamatsu? Really? Why not just a third djinn then?

It hasn't. I had in once in my starting hand so I played it and lost it soon to an archer. When I install djinn early on, I usually have more important stuff to do than search for gorman and install. So I guess it goes out.

get a Compromised Employee instead

That's a nice thought! Discourages rezzing even more heh. I wanted to take Gorman out and splash 1xEasy Mark, but Compromised Employee is tempting man. Not sure if running less than 3xCompEmp makes sense though, and FAOs are quite important in this build. Will playtest 3xCompEmp for sure though!
