Breaking The Meta (BTM) Ep.5: Replicating the Silence (Steal

Sidkah 284

Welcome to BTM where this week we will look at the newest(ish) Shaper! I wanted to do a deck tech of the most interesting Shaper runner right now. So as most of you may know, her ability can trigger after tutoring with SMC to install a Clot from your grip while getting a program you need while the corp is trying to fast advance!

                                                 The Events!

Modded is in here to give you an economical advantage. Mod in a Magnum Opus and install another program for even more cheaps! Net Celebrity is a bit off here, I feel like it should be another hardware or something, but with the increase of Corp Currents becoming a thing, this can be used to throw it off while you set up your rig and run like the wind Bulls-Eye!

                                                Hardware!

Box-E is used because it gives you a nice Handsize increase while also giving you 2 free MU spots for your rig, its also kinda Cheap on Influence which is also something to consider when making her. Grimoire gives you 2 MU for cheaper, but at an increased influence cost AND it only works with Clot, which does not need the counter.

Replicator is pretty sweet since you can install it, search for a copy, and install it or pick something else. Also you can search for more Lockpick and stuff!

                                                  Icebreaker!

BlacKat is my choice cause you have enough stealth cedits going on to help out for barriers (Breaking 3 at once can be pretty sweet). Dagger is in here over Switchblade because of influence and how you need stealth credits for it to work, when you can actually pay with Dagger.

                                   Play style!

When playing this deck, it might be OK to actually keep a hand with a Magnum Opus and a Self-modifying Code cause you maximize your ability better that way.

Play slow and safe. You are playing Stealth. It takes some time to set up, but when you do, you can hit one server pretty hard without using much credits.

Don't worry too much if the corp scores an agenda early on. You can come back hard and take back the momentum.

Have fun!

                                      Card(s) to consider:

Net-Ready Eyes is REALLY taking hold of most runners right now. It might be the spot Net Celebrity is holding right now, but the Meat Damage is probably why it is not in. Clone Chip is ok, but there is no recursion for lost Hardware cards.

I like what you have done here. I have been working on a similar style deck for while. I am on my 4th major revision at the moment. I know it is hard to find space, but what are your thoughts on Personal Workshop? I have found it to be a major boon, for both click compression, and economically. I really want to like BlacKat, but I really can't get behind it. I am not a fan of the full stealth suite myself though, as I feel it spreads the stealth credits too thin.

Along with the Workshop comes the idea of CyberSolutions Have you looked into that? It lets you pull in Astrolabe as a console and gives you more influence to work with. Mopus econ can usually afford the installation, especially if it comes with a modded.

It's a hard choice between hand size and draw with Hayley; she really loves both. That said, with hand size reduction decks popping up all over, I think Box-E is gaining value. In the opposite way, Clot is encouraging glacier strats, which reduces the value of Astrolabe.

A little more draw would be nice here, but Replicator is a lot of draw in a deck with 21 pieces of hardware (and only 3 redundant pieces).

@DarkTsunder:Personal Workshop is really hard to ignore. It's just about hardware Hayley's best card, letting you trigger her ability on the corp's turn every single turn. Pretty hard to argue with that.

Net-Ready Eyes does seem worthwhile in this deck, but you could just run The Personal Touch (great Replicator target). You are going to be extremely careful about destroyers already as you are only running 1 each of your breakers, so I don't see it being too risky. Either way, a +1 strength boost to either your decoder or your fracter is probably going to save you quite a few stealth credits, but does basically nothing for your killer.
