TePiD: ICEless PD - Last, Nothing Else Meta'd, Aldershot

.Feathermark 30

Winner, Jankiest PD Deck, Aldershot Nothing Else Meta'd CO May 2023. Also, won one game (Two if you count the bye!!)

So this one time, way, way back in 2016, right, I came 13th in a 77-person regional using a 54-card deck with no ICE.

I've secretly wanted to recapture that rush ever since then, but been hamstrung by an increasing proclivity towards 'safe' deckbuilding that comes with old age. Thank you, Aldershot, for giving me a chance to feel ALIVE again.

Let's consider the merits of being iceless in 2023:

Economy and deckbuilding slots can be focused entirely towards progressing your game plan; in this case spamming Assets, drawing cards, making money, and fast-advancing out three 3/2s and a cheeky one in the Backroom.

Consider also that Bravado is one of the strongest Runner events in the game, and is an auto 3-of in most criminal decks, as well splashed as a 2-of in meta darling Esa. Making the simple decision to omit ICE from your deck renders this once-devastating economic powerhouse now a useless strip of coloured cardboard. This applies also to Boomerang, Botulus, Hippo, Mutual Favour, every breaker in the game, a dozen tech cards, and 1/8th of Deuces Wild.

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes.

Now imagine bricking 1/5 cards in every reg criminal deck.

"But Diversion of Funds", I hear you cry...! Just shut up and rez things!! Only a FOOL keeps assets liquid in this economic climate!!!

Of course, there is the small matter of being completely defenseless against the runner, and any multiaccess they may be packing. Therefore it's only fair that they should have to steal four agendas, minimum. Meanwhile, you're putting the robots to work at double time, repeatedly hi-sixing ya boy C-B1ZZL3 as he fills your tank with gas over and over again so you can get this thing over the line faster than your opponent can say 'Double Deep Dive'.

Opponent not trashing your assets and pummelling your centrals instead? Ehh, Fat Settlement. Just score a GFI out of hand and carry on.

Oh. Also, I teched in a cheeky Hedge Fund. Seemed good. Might cut it later for another NASX though, idk...
