My Comfort Pick (3rd @ Worlds 2024)

Check out my Worlds Recap Stream Part 1 and Part 2 for a full discussion about the deck and worlds. I also posted live shorts after every round on my YouTube Channel.

I was never playing a different runner for worlds so I spent the vast majority of my prep this year (as usual) working on my corp. I enjoy playing this deck a ton, I have a strong understanding of its capabilities, and I felt confident that my ability to play this deck would make myself stand out despite the list being very well known at this point. Perhaps this was a little bit of a mistake in the end because I was rather conservative when it came to considering deck changes. I talk more about this in the recap stream linked above. In short, I think somthing like -1 Build Script, -1 Revolver, -1 Buzzsaw, -1 Propellor, +1 Euler, +1 Cleaver, +1 Echelon, +1 Entangler is worth trying out.

See my corp writeup for some general thoughts about worlds this year.

Finally, here's a bunch of notes that I took on my phone throughout my practice and testing with this deck. They are notes and reminders that are generally non-intuitive or matchup/meta specific that I wanted to remember when playing my games.

Lat notes:

  • vs HB turn 1, don’t poke remote if Hedge Fund, but do poke if no Hedge, even if Pinhole avail
  • Early game: if unrezzed ice R&D and remote, generally Overclock instead of Trick Shot to keep things simple and ensure you get into remote. (Trick Shot will be better later when remote ice is rezzed because it's a more complex run being made with more information available. Tradeoff risk of R&D getting more taxing but that should mean corp is playing slow so can leverage in other ways)
  • Watch out for random Regenesis
  • Early DJ Loup vs asset decks
  • vs Ag
    • Try not to let them rez central ice
    • Contest the early 2 card remote. Waiting will result in having to break more ice and corp rezzing La Costa (with Charlotte) still nets them a cred
    • on Deep Dive turn, run R&D before HQ cuz BacPro out of R&D can hide agendas in HQ
    • Vampy suggests Sisyphus
    • Remember Pinhole still happens when Ag pops Charlotte. Can Cup the Costa
  • vs R+
    • Just draw and Deep Dive them. Your draw is fast, they all play Degree Mill, no need to run into traps and allow Oppo. Money can’t sustain interacting and clearing Oppo tags
    • Cup the End of the Line when dive
    • Pinhole HQ prevents Snare

Thanks for sharing the play notes here and for corp. I wish more people did that. <3

Love the notes, watching your final game against Santa makes those ag notes so clear, making the ag effect achieve hardly anything is so strong.

'on Deep Dive turn, run R&D before HQ cuz BacPro out of R&D can hide agendas in HQ'

Don't you mean the obverse? ;)

Great write-up. I think the notes on how to play against the best corp archetype is invaluable. This is a must read for most players. I would encourage you to make an article on Stimhack about this, it is really helpful. Cheers!

@Council What I'm getting at there is if you run HQ before R&D then if you access BacPro in either HQ or R&D, then the corp can take all the agendas to hand and leave all the non-agendas on top of R&D. Since you won't be accessing HQ anymore for the rest of that turn, those agendas are safe. If you run R&D before HQ then if you access BacPro on top of R&D then any agendas the corp adds to HQ can potentially get sniped out of HQ because you'll be running there next
