Cache Refresh 2.0 Reina (2-1 2nd place GNK)

owniscool1993 1

Hey everyone, first publish here, and figure i'd go with the runner deck that brought me to 2nd place at my most recent GNK alongside some Rushy Titan, losing only to a guy who was unaware that we were playing cache refresh format (my meta's pretty lax about that stuff so whatever). After we had head about core 2.0, we all decided that we'd go with that for the GNK instead of core 1.0.

So basic idea is that it's headlock reina with what is available. Run, force the corp to rez their ice at an extra cost, then derez the stuff that is a bit too difficult to deal with. Went with Morning Star over Paperclip because i just wanted to try it out, and with there being few barriers that Morning Star with Ice Carver can't break without sucker tokens, wasn't awful.

Some Card Choices
1. Hernando Cortez went in cuz I had an influence left over, so i went with him to make rezzing ice even more painful if the corp had a lot of money. Only ever installed him once though.
2. Abaganale was the decoder of choice cuz, as every knows, Force of Nature really sucks and is still more effecient than Black Orchestra
3. Spinal Modem was the console of choice cuz I've always had a bit of a soft spot for it and feel it deserves at least a little more credit than it gets
4. Hemorrhage went in cuz I just wanted to try out some new(pretty old) toys

So rundown of the games
Round 1 Loss vs 24/7 boom haarpsicord
Game didn't start out super well, didn't have much money to start, and opponent put up a scarcity the turn before i was gonna put down a liberated and moose. Eventually managed to steal an agenda to turn it off, and the still managed to keep opponents credit pool low. He eventually got a score win, but was still kinda close

Round 2 Win vs Architects of Tomorrow
A game where Reina + Xanadu managed along with trashing the campaigns to keep my opponents credit pool down. Opponent had gotten himself to match point, so went for a last ditch indexing and won off it. Notable MVPs were surprisingly the shutdowns, managed to keep a fairchild 3 on R&D derezzed long enough to find my second abagnale after the first one got hit by Hunter Seeker + Ark Lockdown

Round 3 Win vs Skorpios
Opponent wasn't on full rig shooter for Skorp, but instead on an archetype that we afterwards agreed would have been better out of Builder of Nations. With him Priority Constructioning Space ice on the remote, and Mass Comm to burst up from nothing, was really tough to actually keep his money down. In the end, won off an Indexing the turn before he would score to win

Final Thoughts
Morning Star, while super efficient, is a real pain to raw install(luckily the plan was to discard it and get it out with retrieval run) Hernando was really underwhelming, wishing i had gone with Maxwell James instead. Bloo Moose is still super busted. Mining accident is especially nasty in this format.
