Make Assets Lose [startup]

Nephralite 38

In an attempt to get some new startup lists on NRDB, members of Rigging Up are going to be publishing deck-lists as we play them today and prove they aren't complete garbage to each other.

You should absolutely make some cuts to this deck but it wins pretty hard vs assets and does okay into glacier. This is program spam, bling is a bad console but sometimes triggers off dzmz discount.

Against assets, mull for azimat, otherwise try keep audrey charged.

I spectated a few of your games; great job!

I'm curious what would you say about swapping out a Pressure Spike for Rising Tide and a Carmen or two? It doesn't seem clear how you'll get your Boi-Tata discount without Fermenter pops or trashing for Memory.

This seems pretty neat! If programs are your focus, would you consider cutting some resources? Cacophony, Hannah, and maybe even Crew seem out of place at a glance.

Both are good suggestions! I published after like 3 games of it winning off good draws, as it seemed fine, the main changes were:

  • -3 Arruaceiras: the tags were rough for keeping everything else and they mainly ended up being used as worse leech
  • -2 Verbal +1 Solidarity Badge: actively drawing felt like it was usually worse than just keeping up the pressure and being rewarded for it with more draw. costing 2 less and not being trashed if we get tagged are also hugely beneficial.
  • -3 Devadatta: we're trying to win from control not r&d accesses most of the time, and this often became a dead card.
  • -2 Bling +2 LilyPAD: we're already installing too many programs, getting draw for them rather than an inconsistent effect
  • -3 Azimat: this is probably the most interesting cut tbh, as it is 100% a good card for the deck, but 2mu is a lot, and ultimately the card serves the same purpose as gourmand for 6 influence.
  • +2 Scrounge -3 Praccess: the goal of recursion is to install our gourmand and fermenters again, not having that tied to a run is hugely beneficial. scrounge never felt like a dead draw, whereas praccess often was. -1 Charm Offensive: the card never did anything in the 15ish games I've played today, even with crew here. -1 cookbook: slots are hard, its definitely a good card but at our rate of draw 1-of is likely fine.

Ideally I'd run no other breakers than audrey, but they're unfortunately quite useful for keeping up momentum just after the purge. I initially chose pressure spike to screw over weyland, but big barriers tended to be where I'd put botulus, so I agree that importing a better killer is likely useful, I personally swapped to Echelon for 1 less influence than Carmen.

This decks biggest issue is it's economic game against Measured Response isn't great, If you like having money I'd definitely suggest adding money with the last couple influence, I ended up on 1 Creative Commission, though Ashen Epilogue is also a solid choice if you keep running out of cards too fast.

On the less synergistic resources:

  • Hannah's ability to launder clicks is essential for contesting board state imo, and clickless access and trash is about the best things you can do
  • you already want to trash cards, so Cacophony pretty consistently punishes the corp and is often the first thing they try trash when you're tagged. it is a little pricey, but if you get it off the price you're gonna have a good game. I did cut 1 to go down towards 40 though.

but I am ultimately an Esâ player at heart so I'm definitely biased towards certain cards, take my opinion with a grain of salt and I'd definitely recommend using this as more of a jumping off point for customizing it to your own playstyle. Personally being at 50-ish cards in exchange for not having ashen to make sure we don't run out of gas was bearable, but in the long run 40 cards minimizes the amount of losses to bad draws.

Anyway the current list is here if anyone is wanting to follow along with the above changes.
