Architectural Perfection

WardOfTheWoods 710

Architect is probably my favorite ICE as of late. It has so many uses, from recursion to placement of ICE and, in this deck, setting up a potential kill with Snares. ICE like Komainu and Kitsune are helped by Architect, which early on can set up a kill/scoring server. Some people out there might say that the deck relies too heavily on Architect, but it can be easy enough to draw into it using Jackson. In early playtesting on OCTGN, the deck had caused significant setbacks for the Runner by dropping their hands on them, or by using Corporate Troubleshooter on Ashigaru or one of the other barrier ICE to tax the Runner and/or end the run. I definitely need to tweak this econ a bit IMO, especially as most of the ICE isn't cheap, or make different ICE choices in the next iteration.

What is the reason for LAbyrinthine Servers over TFP?

Setting up a kill server, if I'm not mistaken. Force them into a Snare! or a Komainu that they may have jacked out before facing down.

@GPWK That's correct. It keeps them locked into a run that could kill them. In one game I played on OCTGN, I had the following remote server set up: Kitsune, Architect, Komainu with Corporate Troubleshooter. Runner makes a run on R&D and bounces off Ashigaru, then makes a run at my remote. As he makes the run I pop off a counter from a previously scored Labyrinthine Servers. He runs right into a Snare off the bat, thanks to Kitsune, then I pop Corporate Troubleshooter on Architect for 10, making it 13 strength. Runner has Ninja and 10 credits left, so he lets Architect fire off. I search R&D and find another Snare, install it in the server and grab Corporate Troubleshooter back from Archives. He uses almost all his credits to break the Troubleshooter'd Komainu for 4 then is forced into the Snare, which I had saved up enough credits to use. Don't get me wrong, that is a bold play economically, but it guaranteed me the win.

But to get back to the original point, yes, Labyrinthine Servers is used to lock the Runner in, which is why I chose it over The Future Perfect.
