Shockeh bids Hayley Au Revoir

Shockeh 751

So I was looking at the (by now classic) combination of Au Revoir & Snitch, as made popular in Chaos Theory, and the fact that most of those decks run Box-E in order to have enough MU available.

'Well, Hayley is good at getting memory' - I thought, and began thinking about whether I could fit the same mechanism into a Hayley framework. In doing so, I decided to test run all of the various +2MU Consoles, to see how they came together, and realised that if I use Blackguard, that combos well off the Snitch you need for the Au Revoir combo anyway, and as a side-benefit lets you utilise either Social Engineering (Not in the deck currently) or Infiltration, which both look like they could be fun.

Hayley makes the 11$ needed for Blackguard off the Au Revoir, and can pay for it piece by piece off her Personal Workshop, hopefully even getting a bit of a discount.

Posting purely for additional suggestions really at this stage; I'm a little concerned like a lot of decks this will end up 'Worse Kate' and I'd just be better off using her, and also that there might be too many Events for Hayley's ability to fire reliably.

Suggestions and thoughts welcomed - Purely a conceptual idea at this stage, but one I feel might have a germ of a good deck in there.

Obvious thing missing in review: Card Draw.

It isn't a worse Kate. You trade a slight economy boost for the advantage of click compression on your installations. I personally enjoy using SMCto install from my hand on the corporation's turn.

You might actually consider ProCo for draw, maybe along with Diesel.

I like how you aren't going all in with the expose mechanic while using Blackguard. I find that decks that focus on ability tend to fail at doing anything useful, while having it as a secondary benefit tends to work a lot better, or at least smoother. However, there is actually slight Skornergy at work here. Once you have blackguard, you can't use Snitch to jack out and trigger Au Revoir, as they must rez the ice if able, preventing you from using it for economy after that run. You can effectively shut off your own economy engine, depending on the cost to get past the ice.

I will admit to a point of confusion. I can see it working if you make them broke rezzing their other ice; but how does Code Siphon fit in here?

Thanks for the vote of confidence @DarkTsunder, nice to think I'm going somewhere!

The idea of the Blackguard/Snitch interaction was that if I can force them to rez ICE on every single server (leaving me with no Au Revoir targets) and I've managed to fund Blackguard, I'm probably in a position where I no longer care and can run with impunity anyway, and they're probably broke from rezzing all the ICE.

Code Siphon, I'm not so sure - Really it was just an additional choice for tutor effects, but it's probably replaceable for a better option.

I agree about Blackguard, I kinda see where you're going but I just don't think it'd work. All the corp needs is a cheap ICE on the outside of every server and your economy is dead.

I still think Box-E a really good console for this engine. Not only does it save influence and smooth out memory probs, but gives you more room to store up cards for Hayley's ability. Plus Valley Grid hate's never a bad thing :)

I'd maybe consider maxing the click compression and adding in some Career Fair along with a shitload more draw. Good luck with it, I love Au Revoir decks!

I've been trying to get Blackguard working out of a Silhouette deck for a while now with mixed success, but this looks really interesting. One combo that occurred to me today is Blackguard and Drive By. Expose an expensive asset like a SanSan City Grid, they have to pay to rez it, then you trash it for free. Swearing ensues.

@lolpaca I'm willing to try it, if it fails, I'll switch to Box-E as you mention. If they're putting a single cheap ICE on the outside of every server (in this world where Corps are relying more & more on asset economy) I'm hoping they'll be thin enough on Centrals I can just hammer R&D instead in a more traditional way.
