Hypermantle Kit V

Rhahi 520

Continuation of Hypermantle Kit III and Hypermantle Kit IV (not published)

This is my favorite Runner deck and it will eventually rotate out of standard this year. With that, I decided to publish one last public update to the deck.

How to play

Mulligan for
  1. Cards you know you must have for this matchup (i.e., Stoneship Chart Room, SMC/Paricia, DJ Fenris/Loup)
  2. Aniccam
  3. Rigging Up + Hyperbaric
  4. Early card draw and economy, so you can do 1-3 later.
General tips
  • Poke some servers when there are low stakes. Having first layer ice rezzed is good.
  • Draw for the engines pieces: Aniccam, Hyperbaric with Mantle
  • Apply pressure to slow down corp, and try not to use too much resources doing this. Even when starting with 3x Gamble, Boosting Hyperbaric with real money will hurt later.
  • Install Gauss when you need to protect it from damage, or you when need to use it. Try to get away with Quetzal and Kit.
  • Allocate events to play for Aniccam efficiency.
  • Evaluate whether you should keep small frequent pressure or back off to set up The Twinning for bigger and more efficient runs later.
  • For matchups with tempo SDS score: Be on the ready to get in, or don't install irreplaceable breakers.
  • Self-Growth Program hits hard, be careful with taggy NBN.

Flexible cards

If you think the deck runs too poor, or want some extra tech cards, use these flexible slots.

  • Burner, Because I Can: Tech cards without economical aspect. Remove some other cards in this section to slot them in.
  • Pelangi: A hard to use card. It usually sits in hand doing nothing, and then help save some credits or ambush a scoring setup. Sometimes just fizzles to Mavirus.
  • Third Dr. Nuka Vrolyck: Nuka is an awkward card when you draw multiple at a time. Still nice to have a third, but it is debatable whether it is better than credit econ
  • Telework Contract: Generally not a great economy for this deck, but this deck often works in sub-5 credit zone, which is when Telework is great. It is more flexible than Daily Casts in this playstyle. If I want to be cute, I sometimes use Smartware Distributor instead, and proceed to never draw it - so I never know if Smartware is viable.
  • Second Self-modifying Code: It improves asset matchup and helps games where you don't draw any breakers. Tuno suggested this change, and I think is a good idea. However, this slot does take away second Telework or a tech card.
  • Pressure Spike vs Gauss: They are both Ok. Gauss is generally more pleasant to work with, but Pressure Spike has more reach. If you use Spike, you may consider removing Pelangi for more econ (you no longer have big barrier problem, you get econ problem instead)

Removed

  • III: Trick Shot removed: Banned.
  • IV: Psych Mike removed: This card was introduced as a sustainable R&D lock help for the late game with some Trick Shot synergy. Removed together with Trick Shot.
  • III: T400 Memory Diamond removed: I replaced it with Cyberdelia, which has same install cost if I also break ice that turn. This change is introduced because I found that Stoneship Chart Room is better for surviving kills

Numbers

There is not a lot of margin for the deck, so throwing money at the problem is difficult. Setting up efficient rig (Mantle, Aniccam) is vital.

Price tag for the rigs
  • Lean setup: 16 credits with 7 installs = 3 (Console) + 8 (2 breakers and Pelangi) + 2 (Mantle) + 3 (Twinning)
  • Full setup: 27 credits with 10 installs = 6 (Console) + 9 (3 breakers) + 3 (Mantle) + 3 (Twinning) + 3 (DJ Fenris)
  • Hyperbaric charges: Typically 6 to 12 credits. Try to get them from Overclock and Mantle.
  • Other fees: Expect 2 from SMC, 1-2 from Into the Depths for tutoring
Economy
  • Total credits: 40 credits in 9-12 clicks = 12 (Gamble) + 12 (Creative) + 9 (Laundry) + 9 (Rigging Up) + 8 (Telework). (Not counting Overclock or Depths)
  • Recurring credits: 3 per turn
  • Total draws: 29+ draws in 13 clicks = 9 (Diesel) + 18 (Nuka) + 2 (Stoneship) + Annicam draws
  • Tutors: 5 = 3 Depths (usually 1 or 2 becomes Into the Laundries), 2 SMC
