Pre-rotation decklist |
Not my original idea. I heard from other players that Rotage, David Saiya of Aldershot, had taken a deck with this combo to worlds as part of the UK team. I don't know Davids list but the idea seemed fun so I decided to try and make a list that was dedicated just to getting this combo online as fast as humanly possible. CT seemed the natural choice.
What you want setup ASAP:
You will also need False Echo tutorable or on the board if they more than one ice on R&D. Typical Shaper bullshit allows you to find quite a lot of this via Clone Chips and SMCs so you can be quite flexible about what you actually have installed.
Then pop everything. Run R&D. They can't Rez the outermost ice. Use False Echo to return it to hand. The next ice is now the outermost and they can't Rez that either. Repeat until they only have one by recurring the False Echo's. Then get out the Medium.
Use maybe 7-8 clicks to run, then Demolition Run, then start running again seeing all fresh cards. You can dig down a long way. Which is good because if this doesn't work you've lost.
Problems and counters:
Haarpsichoord - stupid uninteractive combo race! You need to find the Employee Strike before you can get going. Can you do that before they pull off their kill combo? This deck had no Plascrete because you only run on one turn and hopefully you win before the end of it. Against all other decks, including kill decks, a Plascrete would be a dead draw. In future I will swap out the Surge for another Employee Strike to enable getting going faster.
Snare - if you think they're running net damage get the Deus Ex out before you begin. If you think they might kill you just on PE net damage then Employee Strike as well.
Archangel- get lots of money and a code gate breaker out before you access if you think there might be Archangel in there. This list has Gordian. There is literally no reason it shouldn't be CyCy,
Rezzed ice - if they get something up on R&D somehow use Atman.
Caprice on R&D or a CVS on the board - gg.
Basically what this comes down to is: "do they know it's coming?" If they know what you're going to do then it won't work as it's trivially easy to counter. If they don't guess early on you can probably get the combo off no problem.

Nice Combo. :) If you can pull it off, it's a Blast.
But as with most complicated Combos it's not so easy to get it to fire and if it doesn't fire, you got no real option to win.
